Another week has almost past, and it looks like 90° weather is in our forecast. As the spring fades into summer, everyone is going to be looking for a cool place to relax.
I should mention… As the temperatures begin to increase, do not leave children or pets unattended in your car. Temperatures can skyrocket quickly!
A test conducted by the University of San Francisco showed that in 10 minutes a closed-up car reached 99 degrees when the outside temperature was 80 degrees. In 20 minutes, the inside of the car had reached 109 degrees.
These temperatures can cause heat stroke, and in some cases, death.
Energy Savings Tips …. Part 4
To get the best performance and efficiency out of your air conditioning equipment, it is important to follow these guidelines.
- Schedule a tune-up (aka, preventive maintenance, summer start-up, planned maintenance)- Your air conditioning and heating system runs most of the year. Just like your car, your ac needs to have a tune-up. We recommend at least twice a year. One time before the summer season, and once before the winter season.
- Keep lamps, lights, tvs or other heat producing items away from your thermostat. Your thermostat senses heat from these items, which can cause your air conditioning to run longer than necessary.
- Keep any dust from building up on your registers by vacuuming them. This will help keep the flow of air moving freely and without restriction.
- Be sure that your furniture and other objects are not impeding the flow of air from the registers.
- Keep doors open throughout the house. This will keep the airflow at the proper levels.
If you find that your ac unit is not working, please feel free to contact us.
Also, I am still running a “Preseason Sale” on complete air conditioning units. Up to $1500 off York and Goodman units! This sale will end soon, so don’t wait until the Dog Days of Summer.
Since the weekend is almost here, I hope that you have a great weekend!

This weekend Staci and I received the dreaded electric bill from SCE&G. With all of the super cold weather that we have had in the month of February, we were bracing ourselves for the bad news. I have spoken to several people, and they have reported $400 – $500 electric bills. Uggh!
This thermostat is definitely technologically advanced, yet super easy to use. With the touch screen, adjustments and programming are super easy. In addition, we added the portable thermostat. Now, when we go to bed or are upstairs, we allow the portable thermostat to control our air conditioner.
I must say that I am a bit of a geek when it comes to technology! I love being able to use my phone or ipad to control the thermostat. The ultimate in convenience (and laziness). Yes, I can be sitting in my recliner with my ipad, and adjust the thermostat! Totally Awesome (in my opinion)!
Well, Spring is almost here and I cannot wait. In the past, I have not minded the cold… I must be getting old. I am ready for the warmer days of spring. I can’t wait to be able to wear shorts, flip flops, and a t-shirt outside again. Oh, and I am ready for there to be sunlight outside when I get home.

Our weather in South Carolina is always hit or miss when it comes to the winter months. Last week, we had a terrible winter storm. Some South Carolinians still do not have electricity. And a week later, we are hitting record high temperatures. Go figure!

It seems like the older I get, the faster time flies by! It has almost been a week since I posted anything to Facebook or Twitter. If you didn’t hear, Arctic Air is now on Twitter! You can follow us @ArcticAirInc.
He and I talked a little longer, then I told him that it was going to get in the 20’s overnight. He kind of chuckled and said “It is NEGATIVE 20 here now.” Well, I must say that I have never seen, nor felt, what -20F feels like… and I am OK with that.
Staci and I are heading to Marleyna’s Birthday Party. She is having a tea party with all of her friends. I have been asked to be the photographer. I wish I had a red carpet to throw down. I think they would have gotten a kick out of that.
