The insulation had to return over the repair, too.
We pulled the existing insulation back over the assembly, secured it with tape, and sealed the full area with mastic. Mastic is a thick HVAC sealant used to close small gaps around duct connections. We also returned the duct support straps to their proper positions.
The mechanical installation was only part of the work.
We made the wiring connections to the new damper motor, restored power, and checked its operation. Each step mattered because a loose connection, poor seal, or unsupported duct section could interfere with performance later.
Confirming Normal Cooling Before We Left
We let the unit run for 15 minutes after the repair. The system pressures measured 378 psi and 143 psi. Superheat, a reading used to evaluate refrigerant performance, was normal at 12 degrees.
Most importantly, the unit was cooling and draining normally. Those final checks confirmed that the new damper was operating and airflow had returned. We did not stop after installing the part. We stayed long enough to see the system run and to confirm the readings were where they needed to be.
The customer was very pleased with the completed work. For us, that reaction matched the result we wanted: a careful repair, a properly sealed duct connection, and a cooling system back in normal operation.
